1 Dress 4 Ways {Part 2: Casual}

Yesterday I featured "Part 1: Dressy" where I turned on the chic factor with this gorgeous dress from KAS New York, so today I'm showing you the versatility by styling it casually. As I said in yesterday's post, I really saw this dress being a stand-out piece for spring and summer. It's eye-catching, but it's simplistic cut and style really give it versatility in terms of styling. Most of the time I purchase my dresses from thrift and vintage stores, but when I'm looking for a great designer dress that isn't pre-worn I'm looking for two things. Can I style it multiple ways? Is it under $200? Now, for some of you you may have a higher cap on how much you like to spend, but $200 is pretty much my limit. Usually I purchase dresses for special occasions, unless something really just jumps out at me and I've gotta have it! This KAS New York dress is easy on the wallet (under $200), and I can stretch my dollars by styling it multiple ways from season to season. Yes, I said season to season. Some dresses really are only appropriate for a particular season, but this dress is on-trend AND happens to have a classic silhouette. Therefore I could style it from spring to summer, and even into fall and winter. Sometimes it's as easy as adding a pair of tights or a jacket when transforming the look of a dress.

For my first casual look I went for a girly vibe with my glittery gold belt, bright pink lip, and colorful earrings. I added the denim vest because a denim vest is another great versatile piece that can transform just about any look. To finish it off I wore my comfy pointy toe flats, my trusty cat eye sunnies, and my fave vintage YSL bucket bag. This look would be great for running errands or grabbing lunch. It still shows off the dress and it still has a polished feel to it, so it doesn't feel too dressed down.

For my second casual look I wanted to style the dress as a skirt, so I went with my classic chambray shirt (if you don't have one, you NEED one because this is a versatile piece that you can use from season to season with all outfits). The aviators and boots gave it a cool vibe, yet my vintage Coach bag and my fun Cinco Powell monogram tag and tassel kept my look classic and fun. I love how the applique detailing is also on the skirt of this dress, so that makes it easy to still show off the beauty of the dress, keeping it the key piece in this overall look.
